Frequently asked questions
The accreditation, the fee and refund, the pass rate, and how your credential is recognised.
The accreditation and the offer
The offer is conditional on accreditation. Participating firms ask candidates to complete the Capital Wake accreditation to confirm the place and their readiness to start. Passing the examination confirms your internship.
A pass earns the Capital Wake accreditation and confirms the internship offer from the participating firm. Your place moves from conditional to confirmed, and you start as scheduled.
The accreditation is intended for candidates who have received a conditional offer from a participating firm. If you have not, speak to your university careers service or the firms you are applying to about whether they participate.
Fee and refund
The fee is £997. It covers access to the official curriculum across eight disciplines and one proctored examination sitting. There are no subscriptions or additional charges.
It is refunded in full. If you pass, you keep the accreditation and your internship is confirmed. If you do not pass, the £997 is returned to you and the place is not confirmed. You only carry the cost once your place is confirmed.
No. The fee is fully refundable if you do not pass, so there is no cost to attempting the accreditation other than your preparation time.
Pass rate and preparation
In a typical window, approximately 43 percent of candidates pass. Candidates arrive having already secured a conditional offer and prepare with the official curriculum, but the examination is demanding, so thorough preparation is what confirms a place at the first sitting.
It depends on your starting point. The official curriculum sets out exactly what is assessed. Most candidates prepare over a few weeks alongside their studies or work.
Eight disciplines: accounting and financial statement analysis, valuation, financial modeling, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, capital markets, corporate finance and economics, and professional ethics. See the full curriculum.
The examination
It is computer-based and runs for up to three hours in a single session. It can be taken remotely with live proctoring or at an approved test centre. Examinations are offered on a rolling monthly basis.
Results are released within five business days of your sitting. On a pass, your accreditation is issued and your internship is confirmed.
Yes. You may prepare further and re-sit at the next available window. A new fee applies, and the same refund applies if you do not pass.
Credential
Every Capital Wake credential is independently verifiable. Firms and institutions can confirm a candidate’s accredited status directly, so the credential cannot be misrepresented.
No. Once earned, the accreditation is yours for life and remains verifiable. You can display it on your CV and professional profiles.
